S-2 Sees It Through

"S-2 Sees It Through" was written by Major Roger Warner, S-2 Officer of the
460th Bomb Group in 1944. The document describes the operational aspects of the gathering of information
for missions of the 460th Bomb Group during the war. It provides insight into how missions were planned,
and the results that were gathered would be uniformly placed into subsequent military reports and then
sent up the Chain of Command. From the "Briefing" prior to the mission, to the "Mission
Summary" a few days after the mission, the S-2 staff at all bases were the means of intelligence
gathering and reporting of the day to day effectiveness of Bomber Operations in the war effort during WW2.
It illustrates not only operational procedures but the extensive nature of gathering intelligence from the
crews that reported their experience and results after every mission, and the final assessment of effectiveness
of all the crews and the aircraft in the war effort for every mission flown.

A 460-as számú bombázó csoport egyik S-2 tisztje, Roger Warner
őrnagy 1944-ben irta meg az "S-2 gondoskodik mindenről" című
cikkét. Ez a történet összegezi a 460-as bombázó csoport működésének
részleteit, és a bevetések alatt egységesen gyüjtött információt
az egész háború folyamán. Leírja a bevetések stratégiáját,
és az eredményről összegyüjtött információt, amely egy
katonai jelentés formájában került a magasabb rangú hatóságok
kezébe. Az S-2 személyzet feladata volt az információ gyüjtése és
a napi jelentés megírása a bombázók eredményességéről,
a bevetés előtti tájékoztatótól egészen a bevetés összegezéséig
pár nappal később az egész második világháború folyamán.
A történet nemcsak a bevetések hadműveleti megoldását mutatja
be, hanem illusztrálja a részletes hírszerzés módját is, amelyet a
repülők legénysége hajtott végre és jelentett nap mint nap. A cikkben
